Oracle will reportedly buy $40 billion of Nvidia’s chips to power a new data center for OpenAI. The Financial Times says the tech firm will purchase about 400,000 semiconductors for a new facility in Abilene, Texas. That’s part of the U.S. Stargate project, which is meant to maintain America’s lead in AI data crunching. Donald Trump is looking to power up the data demand. He has ordered U.S. regulators to cut red tape and speed up approvals for new nuclear reactors. “It’s a brilliant industry. You have to do it right. And it’s become very safe and environmental, yes, 100%.”The move is meant to help meet surging demand for electricity as huge data centers spring up around the U.S. Anthropic says its latest bot can write computer code for hours at a time. That’s much longer than earlier iterations. The startup backed by Alphabet and Amazon says Japanese e-commerce firm Rakuten used the bot to write code for almost seven hours straight. And Apple will launch smart glasses by the end of next year, according to Bloomberg. The company’s push into facewear comes after its Vision Pro headset saw lukewarm reception from the public due to its hefty price tag and lack of AI features.
