Nebius (NASDAQ: NBIS) has announced a strategic investment in its AI data solutions business, Toloka, led by Bezos Expeditions (Jeff Bezos’ investment arm) with participation from Mikhail Parakhin, CTO of Shopify. Parakhin will become Executive Chairman of Toloka’s new Board of Directors, while founder Olga Megorskaya continues as CEO. While Nebius will maintain a significant majority economic stake, it will relinquish majority voting control to give Toloka more independence. Toloka specializes in AI development lifecycle, including agent safety evaluation and red teaming, serving major clients like Amazon, Anthropic, Microsoft, and Shopify. The investment aims to accelerate Toloka’s growth in the AI data solutions market. Following this transaction, Nebius will no longer consolidate Toloka’s results in its financial statements.
