Google Deepmind CEO, Demis Hassabis, has told Bloomberg that, despite the hype, DeepSeek’s AI model is not a significant technological breakthrough. He was speaking alongside James Manyika, Google’s Senior Vice President of Technology & Society at the AI Action Summit in Paris, which has attracted world leaders and tech executives. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump plans to impose 25% tariffs on all imports of steel and aluminum into the US. Trump said the tariffs would apply to imports of both metals from all countries, including major suppliers Mexico and Canada. He didn’t specify when the duties would take effect. The president also said he would announce reciprocal tariffs this week on countries that tax US imports. Those would be enacted “almost immediately” after an announcement, Trump said, without providing further detail. (Source: Bloomberg)
